You are Enough
Therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. ~Romans 8:1
Romans 8 is my favorite passage of scripture. It is filled with wisdom about God’s goodness , grace & promises to those that He calls His children. This passage contains some of the most famous scriptures in the Bible such as Romans 8:28 which reads that, “And we know all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose,” (which if you read the entire passage you will learn that we really use that out of context ALOT). There’s also my favorite verse Romans 8:18, “I consider that the suffering that you’re feeling right now cannot compare to the glory that is to come.”
Sometimes when I’m really going through a difficult time I go back and reread Romans 8 for encouragement. Recently, I did this and noticed that almost the entire chapter was highlighted. All but one verse. Romans 8:1. It is interesting that I often skim past this verse in order to get to the promises later in the chapter. Today, I got a revelation that this was the most important part. If you don’t accept the promise that Children of God are not condemned, then you miss the entire promise. What is condemnation anyway? It is the belief that we are subject to a life or eternity of punishment for all of the wrongs we have done or the shortcomings that we all have. It will never feel like things are working for the good if you feel that you don’t deserve good things. It will be difficult to find the beauty and hope in suffering if you believe that there can’t be more for you. If you believe that God is disappointed or disproves of you then you can’t receive his perfect love as a Father. I’ve watched so many people turn away from the Faith over the past few years for many reasons. One of them, I believe is the prison of condemnation. Everyone is looking for relief and peace from this crazy messed up world. Many people have turned to toxic positivity and the false security of becoming their own god. There is an unhealthy perception that is promoted in many churches and circles of Faith that suggest will never measure up to a mean, hateful, tyrant of a God in Heaven who looks down and allows all of this evil in our world. It causes us to believe that there’s a better life for us without God. Maybe your story isn’t as extreme and you still believe there is a God, but you don’t believe that He is very fond of you despite all the things that you’ve done or experienced.
Do not believe the Devil’s lie that God is disappointed in you and that He does not care about your happiness. No matter how many times that you walk away or mess up , He is always there with open arms to welcome you home. You belong with Him. He is home.
You deserve a life that is free from the fear that you aren’t good enough. No one on earth determines your worth. Your past mistakes do not determine your worth. Not even your accomplishments determine your worth. Your value cannot be found in anything on this earth. There is so much room for you at God’s table. He welcomes you with love and believe it or not throws a party whenever one of His children recognizes who they are. You are royalty. You are and king or queen for real. There is favor all over your life. Your name is being mentioned in rooms that you haven’t entered yet. You are being connected with people who will push you into purpose. People around you are better because you show up and exist in their spaces. Your gifts will bless many and make the world better. There is so much beauty and power inside of you and I hope that you recognize it. Everything that you desire you have access to through you loving heavenly Father. All of this is true, even if you do not deserve it. That’s actually the point.
Do not believe the lie that you can’t access better because of your past or even your current difficulties or mistakes. Even if it was your fault. There’s love and grace for that. Everything will work out for the good. Your pain will not last forever. Glory will come and shine through your life. Nothing in this entire world will ever be able to separate you from God’s love for you.
I pray that you feel worthy of every good and perfect thing. God loves you and wants to give you all of these things. I hope that you have a great week!
